President Bola Tinubu has expressed his appreciation to Mr. Jim Obazee, former Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC), for his diligent service as the Special Investigator of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and affiliated entities. Obazee was appointed to this role on July 28, 2023.
Tinubu lauded Obazee for his dedication and professionalism in navigating the intricacies of the crucial national assignment. Following the completion of the task and the submission of a comprehensive final report, along with the conclusion of all operational activities associated with the assignment by March 31, 2024, the investigation has formally concluded. Law enforcement and regulatory agencies are currently pursuing necessary follow-up actions.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu praised Obazee for his commitment to duty and extended best wishes for his future endeavors.
It is worth recalling that President Tinubu, upon appointing Obazee, charged the Special Investigator with the responsibility of fortifying and ensuring the integrity of vital government business entities (GBEs), as well as curbing leakages within the CBN and related establishments.
“Investigate the CBN and related entities using a suitably experienced, competent, and capable team and collaborate with relevant security and anti-corruption agencies to fulfill this assignment,” President Tinubu instructed at the time of the appointment.
